SeaMama Hijiki, or 'Tot in Korean is a sea vegetable most often used in soups and salads. The sea vegetable is very tiny tight dark curls and is thoroughly washed and ready for use right out of the bag. Hijiki has a stronger taste than the other SeaMama sea vegetables yet it is quite sweet. Like our other sea vegetables it is highly nutritious and is prized for its high levels of minerals, vitamins and trace elements including calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron and vitamin B2. It is also very high in fiber, low calorie, low cholesterol and fat free.
There is no need to wash SeaMama Hijiki. Just soak the spirals in water for ten minutes in cold water and drain well. If you choose to use the hijiki in a warm vegetable dish, simply drain the re-hydrated hijiki and cook with other vegetables and season.
SeaMama Hijiki Spirals come in a re-sealable ziplock bag. Once opened securely seal the package and place it in the refrigerator. The Hijiki has a long shelf life which is indicated on each package.
